The model railroad base occupies an area that is approximately 43 x 49 feet.
When completed there will be two operating modes: Viewing mode will be a self operating mode when TVRM has the model railroad open to the public for viewing. Eight (8) trains will run opposing on the 2 viewing mode loops. Operating mode: TVMRi members will operate multiple trains with full switching capabilities all under the direction of a dispatcher. Operating schemes are being planned and will be point to point from Danville, KY to Harriman Junction, TN. The layout will be Digital Command Controlled (DCC) using the Digikeijs DCC system.
Computer control will use JMRI software. All blocks will have operating signals and the signaling will be installed during the final phase of major construction, hopefully by mid 2023. In the viewing mode, it is expected that 8 model trains will be operating continuously and unattended, under the control of JMRI programming. In Operating Mode, there will be at least one (1) dispatcher utilizing a different JMRI panel.
